40th HVAC&R CONGRESS - GREETING OF DRAGOSLAV ŠUMARAC Print

 In his greeting, Professor Dragoslav Šumarac, the President of the Serbian Chamber of Engineers pointed out that the Chamber has 23,000  members, whereof 6,000 are mechanical engineers. He spoke about the introduction of building certification, energy efficiency licences and significance of introducing order and regulations in this field. This is one of the steps in our moving towards the European norms. Pozdravljajući učesnike kongresa predsedenik Inženjerske komore prof. Dragoslav Šumarac je istakao da komora ima 23.000 članova, od čega 6.000 mašinskih inženjera. Govorio je o uvođenje sertifikacije građevinskih objekata i licenci za energetsku efikasnost i značaju uvođenja reda i zakonskih  normi u ovu oblast. Ovo je jedan od preduzetih koraka za približavanje evropski normama.

This year, like in many previous ones that were very difficult for this country, our guest was Mr. Gordon Holness, ASHRAE President.

Every year at ASHRAE congress, Mr. Holness mentions the date of our congress and calls his members to attend it.

The congress participants were also greeted by the representatives of international associations: Susanne Pilipou, on behalf of the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR), Maija Virta on behalf of REHVA, Derrick Braham on behalf of CIBSE (UK) and Carmine Casale on behalf of AICARR (Italy), but also personally, as a participant of our 2nd seminar in 1971.

The congress was attended by delegations from 20 countries. For the first time our guests were the delegations from China and Iran.

 At the end of the formal opening, Mr. Bratislav Blagojević greeted the convention on behalf of the general patrons,  MPG KGH,  FILTERFRIGO and FENIKS BB.  Many years of personal involvement and enthusiasm of the owners of these companies, B. Džinić, S. Pejković and B. Blagojević in the HVAC&R Society (KGH), their moral and financial support enabled a successful  organization of this jubilee.Na kraju svečanosti otvaranja kongresa ispred generalnih pokrovitelja firmi MPG KGH, FILTERFRIGO i FENIKS BB prisutnima se obratio g. Bratislav Blagojević. Dugogodišnje lično angažovanje i entuzijazam vlasnika ovih firmi, B. Džinića, S. Pejkovića i B. Blagojevića, u Društvu za KGH, njihova moralna i materijalna podrška kongresu omogućili su da se ovaj jubilej uspešno realizuje.
 
40th HVAC&R CONGRESS – FORMAL DINNER Print

At the 40th congress formal dinner, the outstanding individuals and companies received recognition for their contribution to the development of HVAC&R profession.

The “KGH” plaques, the highest recognition of the Serbian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (KGH) were awarded to: Bratislav Blagojević, Ištvan Vanjur, Biserka Švarc, Erdeš Pal, Radmilo Savić, Milovan Eremić and Petar Vasiljević. The “KGH” medals were awarded to S. Strahariku, N. Ilić, S. Vlajić-Žakula, M. Mijušković, I. Suhih, R. Ercegović and D. Gazikalović.

Seven “KHG” medals were awarded to companies and individuals.

Special diplomas were awarded to exhibitors at the exhibition of HVAC&R equipment and accomplishments: to the companies DAIKIN, KLIMAGIEL and KLIMA OPREMA for their exhibited products, and to the company WILO, a diploma for the best arranged stand.

 
40th HVAC&R CONGRESS – FIRST DAY Print

Within the 40th jubilee HVAC&R congress organized by the Serbian Society of HVAC&R Engineers (KGH),  the exhibition of equipment and accomplishments was opened  on 1st December 2009 at 6 p.m. in the Sava Centre. The exhibition patron was the company “Elcomtrade" from Belgrade. In his greeting, the director of the company, Mr. Dragan Arsenović,  pointed out the significant role of the HVAC&R exhibition in the development of this engineering field. After the formal opening of the exhibition,  Milovan Živković handed over the letters of gratitude to the sponsors’ representatives for many years of their cooperation with the Serbian Society for HVAC&R (KGH),  on the occasion of the Society and congress jubilee. The exhibition opening cocktail  gathered over 200 exhibitors and congress participants.

Very successfully organized and covered by the media, the founding meeting of the ASHRAE Student Branch at the University of Novi Sad was held on 30th November 2009 in the conference hall of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, in the presence of over 60 people: students ASHRAE members, professors and the Dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences, Mr. V.R. Holness, ASHRAE President and official of the ASHRAE Danube Chapter, the President of the Serbian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (KGH), guests from the universities of Niš and Kragujevac and others.

After the formal part of the meeting and speech made by the hosts and guests, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by and between ASHRAE, the Serbian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (KGH), the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the University of Novi Sad and the ASHRAE Student Branch of University of Novi Sad. The Memorandum was signed by Prof. Dr. Ilija Ćosić, the Dean,  Mr. Holness, Prof. Dr. Branislav Todorović the President of the Serbian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (KGH) and Mr. Aleksandar Anđelković, the Student Branch President.

The foundation of the University of Novi Sad ASHRAE Student Print

After the foundation of the first ASHRAE Student Branch in  Kragujevac in February 2009, the second one will be founded at the University of Novi Sad by involvement of student Mr. Aleksandar Andjelkovic and its advisor Prof. Dr.  Branislav Todorović, the President of the Serbian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (KGH).

The founding ceremony will be held on 30th November 2009 at the conference hall of the Faculty of  Technical Sciences of Novi Sad in the presence of students – ASHRAE members, professors, the Dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences, Mr. Holness, ASHRAE President and the Danube Chapter official and guests from other universities.

The formal ceremony will be followed by the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and a press conference, while the working part of the meeting will include the presentation of the ASHRAE Student Branch activities and a cocktail in the Teachers’ Club.

ASHRAE President at the 40th jubilee international HVAC&R Print

This year again we shall have an opportunity to greet the current ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) President, Mr. Gordon V.R. Holness,  at the 40th jubilee international HVAC&R congress.

We have hosted many ASHRAE presidents at our congresses and it is important for us that this good  tradition continues. Mr. Holness will spend one week  in Serbia and,  in addition to his participation at the congress, where he will greet  the participants at the congress opening and hold a lecture on energy efficiency in existing buildings, he will participate in promotion of the ASHRAE Student Branch in Novi Sad, address the members of the ASHRAE Danube Chapter, etc.

Mr. Holness was born in England, where he received his education and worked as a Professional Mechanical Engineer – Consultant. He moved to Canada and later to the USA.

 
Serbian students from Kragujevac in ASHRAE Insights Print

The establishment and formal beginning of the activity of the first ASHRAE Student Branch University of Kragujevac- Danube was marked for the future generation in the August issue of ASHRAE Journal – subsection ASHRAE Insights,  which reports on the events and news within this biggest professional association of air-conditioning engineers.

The activity of the students from the University of Kragujevac and their mentor, professor Milorad Bojić,  initiated and supported by the Serbian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning and the ASHRAE Danube Charter, was presented to the professional community in May 2009 on the Internet pages of the Serbian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (KGH), and then in a review of the scientific and professional journal »KGH«, a journal  of the Serbian Union of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and Technicians (SMEITS) and the Serbian Society for HVAC&R.

 
Prof. Marija Todorović elected an ASHRAE Fellow Print

A member of the Board of Directors of the Society for Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning, Professor Marija Todorovic, Ph.D., was elected an ASHRAE  Fellow at the Annual Meeting held at the end of June 2009 in Louisville (USA).

This high recognition was awarded to Professor Marija Todorovic for many years of her involvement in ASHRAE as the Vice President for student activities at ASHRAE Region at Large, which includes the countries of the South-East of Europe, Mediterranean region, the Near and Middle East and India.

This annual recognition  is awarded to ten members out of over 55,000 ASHRAE members worldwide. Prof. Marija Todorović is the third member of the Serbian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning who has been awarded this recognition, after prof. Branislav Todorović (1995) and Živojin Perisić (1999).
