The Serbian members of REHVA celebrated 40th International HVAC congress
The international congress on heating, refrigerating and air-conditioning was held for 40th time in the period of the previous 40 years under the theme “sustaining our future by rebuilding our past”. The congress began with a preschool children’s choir and it was officially opened by the Serbian Minister of Energy, Professor Dr. Petar Škundrić.

ASHRAE Prominent at International Congress
BELGRADE, Serbia—The International Congress on Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning convened for its 40th year recently. The Congress shared ASHRAE President Gordon Holness’ presidential theme of Sustaining Our Future by Rebuilding Our Past. Holness addressed the more than 400 Congress attendees. ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer Tom Lawrence, Ph.D., Member ASHRAE, presented the final speech of the Congress, on energy certification of buildings, as well as details on Standard 189.1.

International recognition awarded to Živojin Perišić |

REHVA, the Federation of European Heating and Air-Conditioning Associations, conferred the title of the Honorary Fellow on Mr. Živojin Perišić, a graduate engineer and a member and Vice-President of the Serbian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (KGH). Mr. Perišić was awarded this diploma at the banquette held on the first day of the 40th HVAC&R congress in the Sava Centre in Belgrade (2nd December 2009).

On behalf of the REHVA delegation, consisting of three REHVA vice-presidents, Dr. Ioan Silviu Dobosi, Vice-President, read the formal announcement and handed over the diploma to Mr. Perišić as a recognition of his outstanding services, stating the contributions Mr. Perišić has made during his career as an engineer and designer in Energoprojekt company, and during his volunteer work in REHVA and other professional engineering associations – SMEITS (Serbian Union of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and Technicians), the Serbian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (KGH), the Association of German Engineers (VDI), the American Association of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and others.

The 40th jubilee HVAC&R congress and exhibition is behind us…
Almost 2000 HVAC&R professionals visited this event, which gathered over 70 domestic and foreign authors as well as a large number of domestic and European companies at the exhibition of equipment and accomplishments held within the congress in the Belgrade Sava Centre. Once again, the congress and exhibition proved to be one of the most significant events in HVAC&R field in Serbia, but also one among the world’s leading conventions in this professional field.
The congress papers mainly dealt with sustainable development – energy saving and use of renewable energy sources.

40th HVAC&R CONGRESS – THE THIRD DAY |

| On the third congress day, 8 papers on energy efficiency of buildings were presented, and then an open meeting of ASHRAE Danube Chapter was held gathering over 100 congress participants. Mr. Carmine Casale from Italy, who also participated in our 2nd HVAC&R seminar in 1971, shared his impressions on the 40th congress. In his closing speech, Professor Branislav Todorović expressed his gratitude to all the congress and exhibition participants and announced the following, the 41st HVAC&R congress to be held in December 2010. The anniversary of the Serbian Society for Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (KGH) was marked by the granting of letters of gratitude to outstanding individuals and companies at the farewell lunch sponsored by the company WILO. | |

40th HVAC&R CONGRESS – THE SECOND DAY |

According to the programme, on the 2nd congress day main sponsors made their presentations and congress participants heard over 30 papers on information technologies in energy efficiency increase, energy efficient facilities and equipment, air systems in air-conditioning, heat generation, cogereneration, trigeneration.
The student programme was attended by over 200 undergraduate and graduate students from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Niš and Thessalonica. The future young colleagues presented their papers in Annex B, divided in four thematic fields: building energy demand for heating and air-conditioning, intelligent green architecture, refrigeration and boilers. The student papers presented at the 40th HVAC&R congress were of extraordinary quality. |

40th HVAC&R CONGRESS – FORMAL OPENING |

The 40th HVAC&R congress was formally opened with the Serbian anthem “Bože pravde" (God of Justice) performed by the children’s choir “Čarolije" (Witchcraft). The chairman, Professor Branislav Todorović reminded the participants and guests that sustainable energy development as the congress theme is dedicated to our children and safe future.
The Serbian Minister of Energy, Mr. Petar Škundrić, greeted the congress participants on behalf of the Serbian Government and opened the 40th HVAC&R congress, mentioning that this is the biggest congress of energy engineers in Europe and emphasizing its significance in promoting responsible approach to the use of renewable energy sources.
In his greeting, Professor Dragoslav Šumarac, the President of the Serbian Chamber of Engineers, pointed out that the Chamber has 23,000 members, whereof 6,000 are mechanical engineers. He spoke about introduction of building certification, energy efficiency licences and significance of introducing order and regulations in this field. Himnom „Bože pravde" dečiji hor „Čarolije" svečano je počeo jubilarni 40. Kongres o KGH. Predsedavajući prof Branislav Todorović podsetio je prisutne da temom kongresa održivi razvoj energije dugujemo našoj deci i sigurnoj budućnosti.
Prisutne je u ime Vlade Srbije pozdravio i otvorio 40. Kongres o KGH Ministar energetike g. Petar Škundrić, naglašavajući da je ovo najveći kongres energetičara u Evropi i istakao je važnost skupa za podsticaj odgovornog ponašanja prema korišćenju obnovljivih izvora energije.
Pozdravljajući učesnike kongresa predsedenik Inženjerske komore prof. Dragoslav Šumarac je istakao da komora ima 23.000 članova, od čega 6.000 mašinskih inženjera. Govorio je o uvođenje sertifikacije građevinskih objekata i licenci za energetsku efikasnost i značaju uvođenja reda u ovu oblast. |
