Renewable energy sources
Seven papers presented in this section encouraged a very productive discussion.
In his paper “Energy Technology –Problems and Solutions” Dragan Škobalj analyzed the previous development and today’s situation of power engineering worldwide and technological solutions which will have effect on energy generation and use in accordance with the environment protection objectives.
Soya straw Biomass as an energy source was discussed in the paper of Rastko Marjanović and his collaborators »Boiler Combustion of Soya Straw Bales for Heating Greenhouse Complex” Situation and development of photovoltaic cells was discussed in the paper of S. Pantić and A.K. Athienitis (Canada) «Energy Analysis of Photovoltaic Cells Integrated with Roof” .
In their paper “Heating and Cooling System using a Heat Pump” Milorad Bojić and Saša Kostić discussed a design solution of a heat pump proposed by the students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Kragujevac financed by ASHRAE. This installation is in operation and it is used for educational purposes.
The use of ground as an energy source for low-temperature demands was analyzed in the paper of Miloš Banjac and Bogosav Vasiljević “Low Temperature Central Heating System with a Heat Pump and Ground as an Energy Source”.
Dejan Vasović from Building Directorate of Serbia presented the project “Energy Efficient Building Project «Sunny Side» in Novi Sad”. Dragan Lazić and Milan Ristanović presented their paper “HVAC, Floor Heating and Fan Coil KNX/EIB Intelligent Control System in ‘Wellness Centre’ of the hotel ‘Splendid’ in Bečići” on experience and effects achieved by using this control system in practice.
Lectures given within the ASHRAE Danube Chapter
The last three lectures were given within the ASHRAE Danube Chapter, with the presence of colleagues from Romania.
Erik Pavlović, director of Hidrija Institut Klima d.o.o. presented a new research institute in Godovič, Slovenia, constructed with EU donation. He described its potential and measuring installation and laboratories. All who visited the institute unanimously stated that it was the most modern institute in Europe at this moment. Professor Branimir Pavković, from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Rijeka had a paper with coauthors Jelušić and Franko titled “Optimization of Heat Pump Systems Using Surface Water at Low Temperature as a Heat Source”. Olivera Ećim from the Belgrade Faculty of Agriculture presented her paper “Predictions and Analysis of Thermal Load Dynamics of Plastic Greenhouses” based on measuring and research on the pilot project for using geothermal energy in Debrc.
This section of the congress was concluded by the reports on AHRAE Danube Chapter work , plans and organization issues, made by the secretary Ioan Dobroši and Marija Todorović.
