ASHRAE Danube Chapter – Success of the First Student Confere
Success of the First Student Conference at the HVAC 2008 in Belgrade encouraged the organization of the second one in Timisoara - April 2009

The students of ASHRAE Danube Chapter are preparing themselves for the Second Student Conference in Timisoara in Romania following the successful First HVAC Students Conference organized in December 2008.
The first HVAC students CONFERENCE-type gathering was held as a part of the ASHRAE Danube Chapter meeting during the 39th International HVAC Congress in December 2008 in Belgrade. The Program was entirely dedicated to graduate and undergraduate students of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning. There were 160 students attending this program.
The participating students were from all the universities of Serbia: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering - Kragujevac, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering - Nis, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Architecture - Belgrade, and the Faculty of Technical Sciences - Novi Sad. A few universities from other countries of the Danube Chapter were also represented: Universities of Timisoara and Bucharest from Romania, Universities of Skopje and Bitola from Macedonia and University of Rijeka from Croatia.
Professor Branislav Todorovic, the Congress chairperson and Prof. Milorad Bojic, the Danube Chapter Student Activity Chair welcomed the participants, and Prof. Marija Todorovic, ASHRAE RAL VC - Student Activities, introduced them to the ASHRAE Students and Young Engineers Programs, national and international students’ competitions (ASHRAE and REHVA), scholarships and special grants.
The students Predrag Petrović, Marko Ignjatović, Mirko Stojiljković, Ivan Mišić and Vesna Kosoric, guided by their professors, Milorad Bojic and Bratislav Blagojevic (Mechanical Engineering) and Aleksandra Krstic (Architecture), prepared presentations on actual HVAC topics: “Utilization of geothermal energy and solar energy in HVAC system”, “Design of floor and panel heating systems”, “Design of solar collectors testing unit” and on the “Architectural optimization of the BIPV systems”.
After presentations, students and their professors visited the HVAC exhibition, concurrently held with the congress, and afterwards they had lunch, specially served for them. At the end, students received special certificates on the Congress participation and they were personally thrilled by having participated in this event, which would contribute to their further, more mature  studies and future professional endeavors in HVAC field.
The students found the Student Conference HVAC program  a great success and  they expressed gratitude to the Serbian HVAC Association and ASHRAE Danube Chapter officers for the excellent organization,  stressing their desire to attend a similar program during the next HVAC Congress in Belgrade,  which is to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Belgrade HVAC Congress. Their satisfaction seeded interest for other Student Branches within the Danube Chapter to be organized in addition to the already formed first Danube Student Branch at the University of Kragujevac.
